We are RasterDuck Games
Games are unique
Most media can be categorized as passive entertainment. There is a creator (or team of creators) that produce a piece of media and the viewer that consumes it.
In this way, games are a fundamentally unique storytelling medium. They can be categorized as active entertainment, wherein the player takes an active role in their own experience.
Most games today are not taking advantage of this distinction.
It is our goal to push the envelope in experimental interactive storytelling.
Games are young
Storytelling in games is an extremely young form of art. The earliest games were made about 50 years ago, but developers didn't start making games with the story taking center stage until the late 1990's and early 2000's.
By contrast, the earliest films were produced in the late 1800's, books have existed for as long as the written word, and music has existed for as long as we've had language.
That's a lot more time to develop storytelling techniques.
Given that games are a wholly unique form of media, our storytelling techniques haven't quite caught up yet.
Telling interactive stories that matter
At RasterDuck Games, we aim to create games that do cool things. Yeknow, like the settlers did. They used to ride around on these babies for miles!
Anyway, making games is fun. We want to do it. So let's do it.
